Under the eye-catching cowl of the Virtus beats the new FARMotion four cylinder powerplant conceived specifically for farming and, with SCR combined with an external, cooled EGR system, compliant with Stage IV emissions regulations. Turbo-intercooler forced induction with wastegate and next generation electronic engine management keep fuel consumption at a minimum while ensuring optimised power and torque delivery for both open field and road transport usage. These tractors are also equipped with the multiple award-winning HEB (Hydraulic Engine Brake), which maximises the braking action produced by also activating the hydraulic circuit of the tractor and the viscostatic radiator cooling fan.

A huge choice of configurations to cater for any need

The efficient transmission of Virtus tractors is based on a 5 speed gearbox with two ranges, complemented by a 3 range Powershift gearbox and an electrohydraulic reverse shuttle to offer a total of 30+30 speeds - which may be doubled with the addition of the optional supercreeper gear. In keeping with SAME traditions, these transmissions come complete with the acknowledged Stop&Go and DeClutch functions. Proportional solenoid valves ensure a perfectly tailored response to all load conditions, while the APS (Automatic Powershift) and SpeedMatching functions automatically select the most appropriate Powershift ratio for the situation. The ASM and radar systems work in conjunction to manage the differential locks and front wheel drive automatically and ensure continuous slippage control.

All the hydraulic flow rate you may need, unbeatable choice of PTO configurations!

The configurations offered range from a system with a 90 l/min and mechanically controlled 6-way rear distributors to a system with a 120 l/min Load Sensing pump and 8/10 way distributors, which are also available as electronically controlled variants. The practical optional SDD function doubles the steering rate. The electronically controlled rear lift has as anti-dumping function (which damps oscillations generated by the carried implement) as standard. The 5000 kg maximum load capacity of the lift may be increased to 7000 kg by adding optional supplementary lift cylinders (standard on Virtus 140). The PTO, with progressive electrohydraulic clutch, is available with all standard PTO speed modes, while the PTO Auto function automatically engages and disengages the PTO in relation to the position of the implement hitched to the 3-point linkage. A potent 2880 kg capacity front lift with PTO is also available as an option.

Simple primary controls, total all-round visibility and premium comfort are traditional traits in all SAME tractors, and have been taken to the next level in the Virtus family. Both the windows and screen and the hydraulic controls in the cab are highly customisable. The controls are colour-coded and organised in functional groups arranged functionally and ergonomically around the driver seat with the most frequently used controls closest to hand. The already outstanding in-cab comfort can be further improved with options such as pneumatic driver seat suspension, cab suspension (available as both mechanically sprung and air sprung versions) and the iMonitor.
